Brotherhood of the Black Pharaoh
Servants of the Crawling Chaos
A secret society devoted to Nyarlathotep in his Black Pharaoh aspect - carriers of the message that the Outer Gods are not distant but walking among nations, spreading madness as policy.
Overview
Where the cult of Cthulhu waits in swamps for stars to turn, the Brotherhood of the Black Pharaoh walks openly in cities - tall, swarthy, resembling an Egyptian king, demonstrating inventions that are not quite science and sermons that are not quite religion. Nyarlathotep, the Crawling Chaos, the soul of the Outer Gods, has a thousand masks; the Black Pharaoh is among the most contagious, because it promises knowledge instead of only destruction.
The archive tracks the Brotherhood as Nyarlathotep's propaganda arm: civilization's collapse by lecture tour.
Description
Members wear insignia that blend hieroglyphic tradition with symbols not found in any dynasty. Rituals emphasize revelation - showing the crowd that the universe is indifferent, that progress is a joke, that the gods of Earth are puppets. Demonstrations of electricity, magnetism, and 'truth' about the atom precede riots, suicides, and the kind of enlightened despair that topples governments.
The Brotherhood does not always know it serves Nyarlathotep. That ignorance is part of the design.
Historical Record
The 1920 narrative of Nyarlathotep's walk through America - mighty cities, screaming crowds, technology turned to nightmare - maps the Brotherhood's method before the name was fixed in later scholarship. Egyptian excavations in the 1890s unearthed references to a black pharaoh who was not human and who would return when humanity had grown 'wise enough to scream.'
Post-war intelligence files note cells in Cairo, London, and Chicago with no visible chain of command yet identical pamphlets. The pamphlets are classified.
Archive Notes
Do not attend public demonstrations flagged by sigil analysis. Cross-reference with nyarlathotep and cosmic-horror entries. The Brotherhood is not the Starry Wisdom Church; conflation loses nuance. Personnel exhibiting sudden charisma and interest in 'showing the truth' require immediate review.
