Shining Trapezohedron
Window of the Haunter
A faceted stone that shines with inner light and serves as a beacon for the Haunter of the Dark - worshipped by the Church of Starry Wisdom, sought by Blake, and relocated by hands that should not have touched it.
It was a trapezohedron of unknown material with a shining surface that seemed to hold light without reflecting any lamp in the room.
Robert Blake, diary fragment
Overview
The Shining Trapezohedron is not jewellery; it is a window - faceted, abnormal, older than Egypt's dynasties in the accounts that cannot be verified and younger than the Haunter that looks through it. The Church of Starry Wisdom placed it on a tripod in darkness and fed it with meditation; when light struck it wrong, the Haunter stirred. When darkness returned, the Haunter could enter the world.
Current custody after Blake's death is disputed. Dr. Ambrose Dexter possessed it; Dexter's later behaviour suggests the gem was never secured.
Description
The stone is a trapezohedron - geometry that unsettles the eye - with a surface that glows without heat, without consistent colour, and without any source in the visible spectrum. Proximity produces dreams of winged things, aversion to sunlight, and the conviction that something watches from inside the facets.
Destruction by conventional means has failed or been sabotaged. Lightning destroyed the steeple; the gem survived. The archive recommends light, not hammer.
Historical Record
Enoch Bowen imported the stone in 1844. The Church used it until 1877; Lillibridge died attempting theft. Decades of abandonment ended when Robert Blake explored the steeple, gazed into the stone, and triggered the 1935 sequence that killed him and drew lightning to Federal Hill.
Post-incident tracking places the trapezohedron with Dexter, whose eyes afterward showed phosphorescence at night. The artifact's location today is classified at the highest level.
Archive Notes
Storage requires continuous illumination above archival minimum. No photography with flash alone as sole light source. Viewing sessions limited to ten minutes. Link to church-of-starry-wisdom and robert-blake entries. If found outside custody, do not look - illuminate, then contain.
